Feb 17, 2022 NBA Action: Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Clippers

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

Backing Houston (again) after near upset at Phoenix: Rockets +11

As 17-point underdogs, the Houston Rockets gave the Phoenix Suns all they could handle at Footprint Center Wednesday. In the end, the H-Town crew loss by three, but covered the spread in a no-sweat fashion. Before yesterday's showdown in the valley though, the Rockets were blown out by 34 at Utah and lost by 19 versus Toronto.

We are backing Houston as big underdogs again in the final contest on Thursday's NBA docket, this time at the Clippers, as we interpret recent circumstances as supportive of another closer than expected out for the Rockets.

We backed Houston (and Detroit) Wednesday, on the basis of an empirically proven system predicated on the idea that bookies shade lines in matchups featuring teams in really tough patches. A play on the Rockets triggered again today per this angle, despite Houston playing competitively in Phoenix.

Backing teams that made the prior playoffs and that are taking double-digits from Conference foes after losing their last three by an average of at least 18.5 has proven an extremely profitable endeavor.

This angle has delivered a 27% long-term ROI, and, after running the board yesterday, is a perfect 6-0 ATS so far this season.

By the way, in instances where the big road dog fared no worse than a loss by two longballs in their last game, this system is 4-2.

Also, it does not hurt that the Clippers are 8-13 versus the number when laying chalk at Crypto.com Arena, are 4-10 when playing on a rest advantage (LA's last action was against the Suns on Tuesday) and are 0-4 ATS as favorites of more than eight points.

Happy betting!!
