Our simulation work forecasts a final score of roughly 71-76, Hofstra when all is said and done. As such, we are betting on the Huskies to cover, as well as on the under.
Northeastern is currently enjoying a three-game straight-up win streak that included covers in two of those contests. Moreover, on the season, the Huskies are 5-5 ATS when their opposiiton is favored to win, 7-5 away from home, and most impressively, 5-2 as road underdogs.
Conversely, while Hofstra also emerged victorious in each of their last three out (also including two wins versus the number), the Pride are 3-6 this year defending their home court, 6-11 from the position of favorite, and 3-6 when expected to win at The Mack. Hence, betting trends appear to be squarely aligned with our expectation for a Huskies cover.
Separately, Northeastern is coming off of a barn burner performance in which the Huskies knocked off the James Madison Dukes 95-94 -- and, in the process, exceeded the betting total by a massive 53.5 points. However, the under collected after the two prior Northeastern games, and the Huskies O/U record is 6-6 in their last dozen contests.
And while Hofstra's last game (versus Towson) resulted in an overshoot of the Las Vegas total by 22 points, the under enjoyed a strong run just prior, cashing in in five of the seven preceding games. Thus, at the very least, betting trends can tolerate a payday for the under.
