Our simulation work sees a total in the 139-140 ballpark when the Wolfpack host the Tigers this afternoon. Accordingly, we are siding with the OVER.
Prior to posting a season low 52 points at Virgina last Monday, the OVER had cashed in in each of the previous six NC State games. The OVER missed (by three points) at the Cavaliers, perhaps as a result of Virginia's slow pace, which by definition limits scoring opportunities for their opposition (Virginia ranks dead last among all men's D1 college basketball in possessions per game).
We are not overly concerned though, as NC State's aforementioned OVER streak includes two covers against Duke -- which ranks #67 in Opponents True Shooting Percentage, as well as a win facing Miami -- a top-50 team in both Opponents True Shooting Percentage and Points Allowed.
Look for the Wolfpack to get back to their recent routine of excedding scoring expectations today. Back the OVER.
