Jan 29, 2022 NBA Action: Sacramento Kings @ Philadelphia 76ers

Fading the Kings negative momentum: 76ers 1H -6.5

A few days ago, we faded the Kings at the Hawks following a blowout at Boston. That wager cashed in in a no-sweat fashion, as Atlanta handed Sac its fifth consecutive SU loss (and second straight non-cover). In fact, over the past week (which entailed stops at Milwaukee, Boston and Atlanta), the Kings average scoring margin is worse than -25 points per game.

Sacramento's road trip continues in Philadelphia Saturday before concluding in the Big Apple Monday, and history says the Kings' recent performance does not bode well for the prospects of collecting the cover versus the Sixers. In non-conference play, teams that missed the prior postseason and that have lost their last three by an average of at least 20 have proven great first half fades facing squads that did earn a berth in last year's playoff proceedings (the Kings are in the midst of a 15-year playoff drought, while the Sixers were denied in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by the Atlanta Hawks last year).

This angle has been good for a 23% return on investment since 2005-06 (statistically significant at the 95% confidence level), and is 3-1 ATS so far this season.

Exacerbating Sacramento's trials, the King's leading scorer might miss his fourth consecutive game with ankle soreness.

Happy betting!!
