Backing two new post-season entrants: Washington +8 and Memphis +9
I'm general, teams probably want to be rounding into top form heading into the post-season. The Sixers' and Jazz's play in the latter games of the regular season call into question whether these teams are at the apex of their games, or at least sufficiently focused to secure covers against significant chalk as the first series of the playoffs open.
Philadelphia lost competitive games at Miami and Indiana, before rebounding in a pair of meetings with Orlando.
Similarly, Utah lost at Golden State and versus Portland before collecting wins at Oklahoma City and Sacramento to close out the year.
On the other hand, the Sixers' opposition Sunday, the Washington Wizards, last four resulted in wins versus Cleveland and Charlotte, and most recently a rout at Indiana to secure a playoff berth. The sole blemish was the loss at Boston in early Play-in action.
The Grizzlies, who will face the Jazz in Utah Sunday, have rattled off a decidedly more impressive stint, amassing only two losses in their last ten games, including running the board in the Play-in Tournament.
The momentum setups for the Wizards at the Sixers and Grizzlies at the Jazz favor this pair of road dogs...
Teams kicking off playoff series with wins in at least three of their last four tend to cover against teams that don't boast winning records in their most recent action...
Backing positive vs negative-to-zero momentum in playoff game 1's has delivered a statistically significant 26% long-term return on investment, with only four losing seasons since 2004.
Further, in games where the teams on a roll did not make the post-season a year earlier, the system's ROI improved to 32%, on a 17-8 ATS record.
In instances when the lower momentum team DID appear in the last playoff, ROI is a bloated 35%, on a 49-22 ATS tally.
Thus, we regard this system as a robust support for both the Wizards and Grizzlies to beat the number in their opening round playoff series openers Sunday. We are positioning accordingly.
Happy betting!!
