We are taking the flier on the lowly Lakers at the (lowlier) Knicks Sunday, as one system on our roster, powered by data from BetLabs, recommends backing mediocre road favorites versus bad teams from the other conference.
Per the graphic below, squads that have won between 40 and 49% of season-to-date games played, and that are traveling to the other conference as the favorite have covered the spread 57% of the time since 2005, for a 12% return on investment (ROI), facing teams with a win rate no better than 25%.
