We like the Bulls for the road cover this evening, on the basis of a rately-triggered, but immensely profitable system on our radar tied to fading mid-tier home favorites on indications that near-term momentum is faltering.
Betting against teams that didn't make last year's playoffs and are laying points at home after a four-game win streak followed by a loss has been a highly profitable strategy, delivering a return on investment (ROI) of 29% since 2005 (and a 46% ROI so far this season).
The underlying theory for this approach is that after a particularly strong multi-game run, mediocre teams' performance is likely to revert. The first loss after a hot streak is often a sign that the expected regression is underway.
Importantly, we note that the incredible profitability to this system persists late in the season, as indicated by the 23-14-1 ATS record considering only games 62-82 of the NBA season.
